Senior Room

 

The senior room have been busy preparing debates. The sixth class debating team participated in the Primary Debating Ireland competition. During our energy focus week all pupils participated in debates. The pupils have been enjoying improving their oral language skills and developing their persuasive language

 

Junior Room

The boys and girls in the junior room have been learning about Saints, including St. Brigid, St. Bernadette & St. Valentine. All children contributed greatly to activities during Catholic Schools week.

 

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons commence on 28th February. All pupils attend these lessons and the cost of same is €40 per pupil. Please return money to school on or before final lesson on 25th April. On swimming days parents may attend Roscommon Leisure Centre to assist their own children with drying and changing.

 

Dates for your Diary

 

First Confessions will take place on Wednesday 13th March at 7.30 p.m.

 

First Holy Communion will take place on Sunday 5th May 2013 at 10am

 

Confirmation will take place in Knockcroghery Church on Wednesday 10th April 2013 at 11am

 

Religion

Teresa Melia; our dioscean advisor, visited our school on 11th February. She carried out a prayer service with the children.

Fr. Milton distributed Holy Ashes to all pupils today, Ash Wednesday.

 

 

Mid-Term Break

The school will be closed on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th February for mid-term break.

 

Opening Times

School starts officially at 9:20am. The BOM and staff cannot accept responsibility for pupils before 9:20am. We would like to thank parents for adhering to these times.

 

County Photos

The photos that were ordered from the proofs will be delivered to us next week.

 

 

School Tour

Our ski tour for 3rd – 6th classes takes place on Thursday 21st February. Pupils should bring a packed lunch. There will be no shopping but there is a vending machine on site. Pupils should wear warm, flexible clothing, long smooth socks and strong gloves. Waterproof clothing should be brought in case of rain. No phones are allowed. A text message will be sent to parents when we know our time of arrival home. Our expected time of arrival is 4:30pm.

MP3 players/ ipods are allowed, but pupils are responsible for their own devices.

 

Green Flag Biodiversity

Thank you to all parents who donated materials to our bug hotel. Our bug hotel was completed by all pupils during our Biodiversity Action Day. The pupils in the senior room completed a web of life and investigated a woodland river eco-system. The senior pupils investigated how the greenhouse effect works by carrying out experiments in class. Our Green Flag inspector is coming on 19th March!! Keep up the great work. Next week our focus week is on “water.”

Discover Primary Science

Parents are asked to donate their kitchen roll tubes for our Discover Primary Science experiments on investigating slopes. Please send them in to school on Monday 18th February.

 

 

Catholic Schools Week

We celebrated Catholic schools week during the week of 28th January. An assembly was held in GP hall and lessons were carried out in class.
